OH CANADA!!! Eco-Panels announces our first international expansion – Saskatchewan, Canada – the official registration completed in late February. Sometimes things take a long time to grow organically – but “deep roots are not reached by the frost.” Our robust technology, proven in the field, allows almost anyone to build a home stronger and more efficiently insulated than possible with traditional – and very complicated – wood frame construction, often for less money. This technology can weather the storms of economic chaos.

Our efforts in Canada started long ago, and will commence with First Nations communities in Saskatchewan, growing from there. Their excitement and business plans humble me, ranging from the immediate need for thousands of new homes to discussions with the highest levels of the Canadian government. They want to build stronger and more energy efficient homes with a system that does not require the “by your leave” of traditional systems and trades. And perhaps what is most exciting for me, is this will not be a small factory. As someone said the other night – “Elbows up!” Canadians will take charge when the age-old system and the antiquated methods are no longer working.

Unlike the Eco-Panels manufacturing locations in the U.S., this group will raise funds on the open market by selling shares (hence the ability for much larger operations – we hope to learn from what they do). This will be an Employment Cooperative as recognized by the Canadian government, but in a FIRST for Saskatchewan, it will be a Hybrid Cooperative, allowing for an investor class distinct from the working members. Very exciting! Stay tuned for more information.
